The Department Director is responsible for the operation of his/her assigned unit by directing, planning and overseeing staff in the provision of patient care in support of facility goals and mission. He/she acts as a catalyst between administration, physicians and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care over Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Function and the Sleep Laboratory. 

Essential Functions:
  1. Direct the activities of staff to provide timely, efficient and appropriate care to all patients. 
  2. Provide ongoing evaluation and education/training opportunities to staff members to ensure professional development and the ability to provide quality care. 
  3. Ensure patient/customer satisfaction by analyzing patient/customer complaints, concerns and provides appropriate follow through. 
  4. Participate in hospital wide committees to establish patient/customer service and administrative plans and policies. 
  5. Responsible for the safety of patients and staff by ensuring that staff follows established policies and standards. 
  6. Develop operating budgets and maintain necessary control to assure compliance with the budgeted expenses, resources and staff projections.
Qualifications
Education: 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience: 
  • Three to five years related experience required.
  • Knowledge of budgets and inventory controls required.
License/Certification: 
  • Must have current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Oregon

The Medical Center is located a one-hour drive from the Beautiful Oregon Coast!!! It is in Southern Oregon about one hour South of Eugene,  and the cost of living is moderate. 
Salary range is $83,000 to $90,000.

The Portland Service Area Director-Respiratory Care develops, implements, directs and coordinates all Regional Respiratory Care, Hyperbaric Medicine, Outpatient Wound Care and Neuro-Diagnostic Services for Providence Milwaukie Hospital, Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.  Management includes directing the delivery of all educational, clinical and testing services provided in a variety of settings both in acute care facilities, contracted sites and in the community. Provides operational and developmental direction for Providence Health and Services-Oregon Small and Rural Hospital ' s implementation of sleep disorders and enhanced respiratory programs. 

Requirements:

  • Registration (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). 
  • Bachelor degree in health related field. 
  • Current professional license as required to practice in the State of Oregon. 
  • Minimum 10 years progressively responsible experience which includes minimum 7 years managing respiratory care services in a large acute care facility. 
  • Advanced education in areas of respiratory care services, human resources, business and quality management. 
  • Must have exceptional competence and mastery in scientific and practical application of pulmonary function testing, exercise and metabolic testing, neurodiagnostics, sleep disorder evaluation, hyperbaric medicine, wound care, critical care management and comprehensive respiratory care. 
  • Must have computer and management knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to diagnostics and therapeutic medical equipment, business and information systems.
  • Current driver's license 
Preferred: 
Masters of Health Administration or Masters of Business Administration with undergraduate degree in professional practice area.

The Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) is now part of Homeland Security. Joining this team does require considerable binding obligations. If selected to be part of this team, you will spend a considerable amount of money for your personal supplies. Also, if you are part of this team and they call for an emergnecy response, you will be expected to respond (if called you will have 8 hours from HI to FLY. You would be expected to work in possibly very inhospitable envoironments until relieved by backup teams. If interested contact Lande Lambert.
